Solihull Arden 1st team finished their third victory in a row to keep them in top position of the Warwickshire division 1 League this past Monday. The night started off with Justyn Claydon who defeated a hungry and talented Lucy Green in a 3-0 win. It was then Josh Saysell who scraped out the victory in a close 4 games after losing the first game 12-10. Josh’s impeccable 100% record this season is still in tact securing the 2nd to last win of his English career before a permanent move to the USA beckons.
It was a strong result at 3rd string for Ryan Picken with a comfortable win 3-0. Chris Ryder was up against Sarah Jane Perry who is 6th in the World for Women’s professional squash. Chris came out gliding around the court in the first game playing some world class squash of his own. The second game was a bit closer with some back-to-back questionable calls going toward the home team Kenilworth, but nevertheless Ryder took the 2nd and finished strong in the 3rd for a solid 3-0 win. Our final match-up were the number ones with our Joe Green against Guy Pearson. It was a long and entertaining match going all the way to the fifth game, unfortunately for Arden the Green Machine broke down losing 11-9 in the fifth. Next week we will be hosting Edgbaston Priory on the 3rd of December for our final match of the half.

Squash is actually a very thrilling sport. I am sure that it is not the most popular, but it is one of the most exciting things to play. There are not many who are interested in playing it, but I hope that I meet some valuable competition near our neighborhood. I do not get a lot of chances to play against other people and I am hoping to meet some competition some time soon. Squash is a great sport, you should try it out sometime.
